General Questions
What is a chiropodist?
A chiropodist is a regulated foot care specialist trained to assess, diagnose, and treat conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Chiropodists in Ontario are licensed healthcare professionals who can prescribe orthotics, perform minor surgical procedures, and provide ongoing foot care management.
What should I expect at my first visit?
During your first visit, Sulejman Menzildzic will conduct a thorough assessment of your feet, including skin and nail health, circulation, sensation, and biomechanics. Please bring any relevant medical records, a list of medications, and the shoes you wear most often. The initial consultation typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No, you do not need a referral to see a chiropodist in Ontario. You can book an appointment directly with B-Foot Clinic by calling (905) 796-3338 or visiting our Contact Us page.
Insurance & Payment
Is chiropody covered by OHIP?
Chiropody services are not covered by OHIP for most patients. However, many private insurance plans and extended health benefits cover chiropody and custom orthotics. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage before your visit.
Does my insurance cover custom orthotics?
Most extended health insurance plans in Ontario cover custom orthotics when prescribed by a chiropodist. Coverage amounts vary by plan — typical plans cover between $300 and $500 per year. B-Foot Clinic provides all the necessary documentation, including a biomechanical assessment report, to submit to your insurance provider.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, debit, Visa, and Mastercard. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. We provide detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Treatments & Orthotics
Is ARC Laser treatment painful?
Most patients experience little to no pain during ARC Laser treatment. You may feel a mild warming sensation in the treated area. The procedure is non-invasive, requires no anaesthesia, and there is no downtime — you can return to your normal activities immediately after the session.
How many laser sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated and its severity. For plantar warts, one to three sessions are typically sufficient. Nail fungus treatment usually requires three to four sessions spaced several weeks apart. Sulejman Menzildzic will provide a personalized treatment plan after your initial assessment.
How long do custom orthotics last?
Custom orthotics typically last between two and five years depending on usage, activity level, and the materials used. We recommend having your orthotics assessed annually to ensure they still provide proper support. Adjustments or replacements can be made as needed.
Diabetic Foot Care
How often should diabetic patients have their feet checked?
Diabetic patients should have a professional foot assessment at least once every three to six months, depending on their risk level. Patients with neuropathy, poor circulation, or a history of foot ulcers may need more frequent visits. Regular check-ups help catch problems early before they become serious.
What makes B-Foot Clinic's diabetic foot care different?
Lead chiropodist Sulejman Menzildzic is a recognized contributor to the Canadian Guidelines for Diabetic Foot Ulcers. His evidence-based approach combines thorough risk assessment, advanced wound care techniques, and preventive strategies including custom orthotics and patient education to reduce the risk of complications.
