Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes can lead to serious foot complications including neuropathy, poor circulation, and slow-healing ulcers. Without proper care, minor injuries can escalate into severe infections that may require hospitalization or amputation. We bring specialized expertise in diabetic foot management. As contributors to the Canadian Guidelines for Diabetic Foot Ulcers, we apply evidence-based protocols to assess risk, treat active ulcers, and prevent recurrence.

Diabetic Ulcers

Diabetic Ulcers

Diabetic ulcers result from excessive pressure or friction against skin. Infection is common and can pose threats to limbs and even the patient's life if not treated properly and promptly. Our chiropodist at B-FOOT clinic received extensive training through the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course where he was educated on how to treat existing foot ulcers using the recent and most advanced technology. Our chiropodist Sulejman was one of the health care professionals who wrote the Canadian Guidelines of Diagnosis, Prevention and, Treatment of Foot Ulcers.

Risk Group Assessments

Risk Group Assessments

We conduct holistic diabetic foot risk assessments that evaluate sensation (monofilament and tuning fork testing), vascular status (Doppler waveform analysis), skin integrity, foot structure, and footwear. Patients are classified into risk groups so we can tailor the frequency and intensity of monitoring to their individual needs.

What We Monitor

  • Peripheral neuropathy screening
  • Vascular assessment & Doppler testing
  • Wound care & ulcer treatment
  • Custom orthotics for pressure relief
  • Risk group classification & prevention
